CAHAM: The Center for Ancestral Healing Arts and Medicines proudly presents an 8-part workshop series on Chicano & Mexican traditional healing arts! Featuring instruction from curanderas & curanderos from all over the southwest, this class moves through the Mexikah Medicine Wheel to teach students practical, traditional healing skills for holistic health & wellbeing. Part 2 of 8 in the CAHAM curanderismo workshop series. Learn the basics of healing with the fire element and wor the direction of the East (Tlahuiztlampa) in Chicano & Mexican curanderismo. Students will learn about fire-associated herbs; how to make a basic copalero/sahumador (fire cup); and how to perform a traditional smoke limpia (energy cleansing or smudging).

Part 3 of 8 in the CAHAM curanderismo workshop series, featuring guest instruction from Doña Felicia Cocotzin Ruiz, the Kitchen Curandera! Students will learn the basics of working with the water element and the direction of the West (Cihuatlampa), including water-associated herbs; how to make Agua de Florida; and how to perform traditional water limpias.

Students will learn about earth-associated herbs; traditional uses of stones for healing in curanderismo; and how to perform a barrida (limpia with herbs).

Students will learn the basics of working with the air element and the direction of the North (Mictlampa), including air-associated herbs; how to make an air-element incense blend; and how to perform traditional sound and wind limpias.

Part 6 of 8 in the CAHAM curanderismo workshop series, featuring guest instruction from Phoenix native curandera Doña Patricia Federico! Students will learn the basics of working with the Sacred Feminine and Mother Earth (Tonantzin Tlalli), herbs for women's health, the ihiyotl, and finding el pulso (energetic pulse) for cutting ties to harmful energies.

Part 7 of 8 in the CAHAM curanderismo workshop series. Students will learn the basics of working with the Sacred Masculine. Father Sun (Tonatiuh), and Father Sky (Tonacatecuhtli), the tonalli, herbs for men's health, and a traditional cortalazos (cord-cutting) ritual for severing and clearing out negative, harmful energies.

The final workshop in the CAHAM curanderismo series. Learn the basics of working with the Center of the Medicine Wheel (Xictlampa) in traditional Chicano & Mexican curanderismo. Students will learn protection rituals for oneself and the home, a traditional egg and broom barrida (sweeping energy cleansing) for susto (fright sickness), and participate in a closing ceremony.
